Summoner card tips by role

The role section is one of the first things people look at on a summoner card. SUMMONER CARD shows each role at one of four levels: Main, Sub, Normals OK and No. Here is what to show for each role, with example comments.

Be honest with the four levels

It is tempting to mark every role as Main, but then nobody can tell what you actually want to play. We suggest:

  • Main: the role you are most confident in for ranked. One or two at most
  • Sub: roles you can still play in ranked
  • Normals OK: roles you are practicing or only enjoy in normals
  • No: roles you would rather not play

Marking your No roles clearly avoids role clashes with a duo before they happen.

TOP

Top spends a lot of time in one-on-one fights, and your play style changes a lot depending on your champion. Pick a set of champions that shows your type: tanks, fighters or ranged picks.

Example: Top main. I like protecting my team on tanks, and I’ll Teleport in before teamfights!

Jungle (JG)

The jungler moves around the whole map to help teammates, so describing how you like to play helps laners feel at ease: lots of ganks, farming to scale, or focusing on objectives like Dragon and Baron.

Example: Jungle main who ganks early and often. I’ll spend extra time near my duo’s lane

MID

Mid sits in the center of the map and is expected to help the side lanes. Mages and assassins play very differently, so showing a consistent set of champions helps. If you want to duo with a jungler, say so in your comment.

Example: Mid main, mostly mages. Looking for a jungle duo to move together from the early game

ADC (bot)

The ADC shares a lane with the support, so it is the role where duo chemistry matters most. Saying whether you like to fight in lane or play safe and scale makes it easier to find a support who fits.

Example: ADC main who likes to fight in lane. Looking for an engage support to duo with!

Support (SUP)

Support covers a wide range, from protecting allies to starting fights. Your champions show whether you lean toward enchanters or engage. Many people look for an ADC and support pair, so mentioning what kind of ADC you like also helps.

Example: Support main, mostly enchanters, but I can adapt to my ADC. Leave the wards to me

If you can play anything

If you are comfortable everywhere, mark every role as Sub and add “I’ll fill whatever the team needs” in your comment. Players like that are very welcome in five-stack posts.

Choosing your best champions

You can show up to five champions. Instead of only your highest win-rate picks, choose a set that shows the play style you enjoy; it also gives people something to talk about. Three champions for your main role and two for your sub role is an easy split to read.
